Our rules for affiliate links

• Only things we would actually use. We suggest services that genuinely help a family visiting Japan — an eSIM to get online on arrival, tickets and tours, family-friendly hotels near a station, travel gear. If we would not recommend it to a friend, it is not here.
• Recommendations are never paid for. No restaurant, attraction or hotel pays to be featured in our guides. Affiliate commissions come from booking platforms, not from the places themselves, and they never change what we say.
• Clearly labelled. Where a section contains affiliate links, we say so right next to them, and the links are marked as sponsored.

Partners we may use

These can include travel-booking and experience platforms (for example Klook and Booking.com), an eSIM provider (Airalo), and Amazon (as an Amazon Associate we may earn from qualifying purchases). The specific partners can change over time.

How it relates to your data

When you click an affiliate link, the partner may set a cookie so any resulting booking is attributed to us. That is covered in our privacy policy.
