Which Japanese Restaurant Chains Have a Kids’ Menu?

By the kyounoko team — counted across our own facility database, not compiled from reviews.

Data verified: 2026-07-02 · 37 chains on this page

37 of the 42 Japanese restaurant chains in our database have a children’s menu (お子様メニュー), 2 have one in some branches only, and one does not (2 unverified). A Japanese kids’ set is typically rice or noodles, a small protein, a drink and often a toy, priced well under an adult meal — and a surprising number of chains that have no kids’ menu are still easy because the food shares well off an adult plate.

The kids’ menu matters most between about two and five, when a child wants their own plate but will not finish an adult one. The columns beside it show the two alternatives: child-sized cutlery (which decides whether a preschooler can eat unaided) and sharing plates (which is how Japanese families feed toddlers where there is no kids’ menu). A chain with sharing plates and soft rice can be easier than one with a kids’ set of fried things.

Chains with kids’ menu as standard

“Yes” is standard across the chain, “Varies” differs by branch, “No” is not offered, “—” is not verified. Age columns are the same verdicts as on each chain’s own page.

Age ratings are derived from the facility and access data we hold for each place, using a fixed rule that we publish on the page — they are not opinions. Where we do not hold the evidence a rating needs, we show “Not verified” rather than guessing.

Depends on the branch

The chain runs this differently between branches. The note says which branches to prefer, where our data has one.

Not here

Chains where our data says no. Still fine for a meal — plan the facility elsewhere.

Not verified for this facility (we hold no checked data, so we do not guess): Torikizoku, Hanamaru Udon.

How it works in practice

  • Look for “お子様” (okosama) on the menu or tablet; family restaurants usually have a whole page of it with pictures.
  • Kids’ sets often come with a toy or a capsule-machine token — worth knowing before a sibling notices the difference.
  • Where there is no kids’ menu, “torizara” (small plates) are free for the asking and turn any udon or rice dish into a toddler meal.
  • Conveyor-belt sushi has no kids’ menu as such because the whole format is child-sized plates — egg, corn, fries and udon are the usual toddler order.

Common questions

Do Japanese restaurants have kids’ menus?

Chains mostly do: 37 of the 42 we track. The ones without a kids’ menu tend to be counter formats (beef bowl, ramen, standing sushi), and even there a small plain dish usually works for a child.

Which chains give children their own cutlery?

Saizeriya, Gusto, Bamiyan, Yayoiken, Cocos, Jonathan’s, Steak Gusto, Zetteria, Kourakuen, MOS Burger and 11 more provide child-sized cutlery as standard in our data. Elsewhere, ask — a plastic spoon and fork often exist even when they are not offered.

What is on a typical Japanese kids’ menu?

A small portion of rice or noodles, one soft protein (hamburg steak, fried chicken, egg), a side, a drink and often a toy, served on a divided plate. Family restaurants price it far below an adult meal.
