Tokyo Skytree is one of the easiest big attractions to do with kids because the whole base is Solamachi — a modern, step-free mall with an aquarium, a planetarium, endless baby rooms and family restaurants, all indoors. You can happily spend a rainy day here without ever going up the tower.
Tokyo Skytree is a 634-metre tower, but for families the real destination is Tokyo Solamachi, the huge modern shopping complex wrapped around its base. It is fully step-free, air-conditioned and stuffed with kid-friendly restaurants, an aquarium and a planetarium — an ideal all-weather day. The station (Tokyo Skytree on the Tobu line, or Oshiage on the Metro/Toei/Keisei lines) connects straight into it. Here are the kid-friendly chains, the baby rooms, and how to get around.

Gusto. Full family restaurant: kids’ menu, drink bar, a changing table, and a tablet to order in English.
Jonathan’s. Same group as Gusto, a step calmer. Booth seats and a changing table.
Sushiro. Conveyor sushi is a hit with kids — touch-screen ordering, plates from ~¥120, often a toy-capsule reward.
Saizeriya. The cheapest sit-down meal in Japan. Kids’ plates, high chairs, and you can bring baby food — the default lifesaver.
Gyu-Kaku. Grill-at-your-table BBQ. Fun for older kids; mind the hot grill with toddlers.
Marugame Seimen. Cheap fresh udon, soft and easy for little ones. Tray-line service, so a stroller needs a helper.
Facilities vary by branch and change over time — treat this as “what to expect”, and any staff will help if you ask “high chair?” or “changing table?”.
Nursing rooms & changing near Tokyo Skytree / Oshiage Station
- Tokyo Solamachi, the mall at the base of the tower, has multiple large baby rooms across its floors (nursing booths, hot water, changing tables) — among the best-equipped in east Tokyo.
- The Sumida Aquarium and the tower entrance floors also have nursing and changing facilities inside.
- Any Solamachi information desk will point you to the nearest baby room and the elevators.
Strollers, elevators & getting around
- The whole Skytree/Solamachi complex is new and fully step-free — elevators everywhere and wide, flat mall floors, so a stroller is genuinely easy.
- Oshiage and Tokyo Skytree stations both connect directly into Solamachi with elevator access — you never need to go outside.
- The riverside walk toward Asakusa (across the Sumida River) is flat and pram-friendly if you want to combine the two in one day.
