If you are travelling with a baby and want one proper zoo day, this is our pick in the whole Kanto region: our editors tag it from the first year, the officially confirmed facilities run to three nursing rooms, changing tables in every women’s bathroom and some accessible ones, and stroller hire at three points in the park. Where it fits in a Tokyo trip
It is in Higashimatsuyama, Saitama, on the Tobu Tojo Line out of Ikebukuro — so it fits a stay on Tokyo’s north-west side better than one in Asakusa. A full day, and better in the colder months than the peak of summer: the capybara bath runs in winter, and a hillside zoo in August is hard work with a small child.
