For ages one to four, the Yokohama Anpanman Children’s Museum — on our own visits it is the strongest attraction in the region for that age, provided your child knows the character. For a classic big day out, Tokyo Disneyland: entry is free under four and two in-park baby centres are officially confirmed. For a Kamakura day, anchor it on Enoshima Aquarium rather than the temples.

Which of these are not walkable from the station?

Two need a local bus and look walkable on a map: Musashi Kyuryo Forest Park is about 3km from Shinrin-koen Station, so take the bus from the north exit; and the Museum of Aeronautical Sciences near Narita is outside walking distance from both Airport Terminal 2 and Narita Station. Zoorasia, Mother Farm, Funabashi Andersen Park and Moominvalley Park are also bus-served rather than walk-from-the-station.

Is Kamakura suitable for a family with a stroller?

Partly. The temples involve gravel paths and steps, which is hard work with a stroller, so pick one rather than five. What makes the day work with small children is Enoshima Aquarium on the beach — full baby facilities, free under three — and the Enoden railway between Kamakura and Enoshima, which small children treat as an attraction in itself.
