Kamogawa Sea World has the only orca show in the country, which is the reason to make the journey and the reason people do. Two practical things decide the day: the front rows get thoroughly soaked, so a rain poncho is part of the packing list rather than a joke; and the aquarium is on the far coast of the Boso peninsula, so our editors treat it as an overnight with the local hot-spring town rather than a day trip. This is not a Tokyo day out — it is a two-day side trip on the Pacific coast of Chiba, reached by train to Awa-Kamogawa and then the free shuttle bus.
